a) Character Modelling

The Wireframe of my Raccoon isn’t perfectly symmetrical but it is very clean and smoothly built. The model isn’t 100% the same as a raccoon’s is in real life but that’s because I changed it slightly to simplify it in order to get an arcade style video game look.
I used a real raccoon’s side and front profile as image plains in my Maya creation to make sure that I get the shape of my character right.
For the most part, the topology is clean with no overlapping vertices or edges. However, the back of my character sees two objects combining and the second shape inside the first could pop out slightly when animating so that was something I needed to keep a watch over.

The facial definitions of my model are very clear when looking at it in an untextured state. Personally, I like how the ears turned out.
The changes in fur colour is hard to see in the untextured form but that’s because, on a real raccoon, there isn’t a point where the body shape changes specifically to house different fur colours.
My Raccoon looks much more realistic when we look at the textured version and I have impressed myself with what I’ve managed to do.

b) Texturing Materials

I used Lambert for all of my Materials when creating my Raccoon character. This was because I wanted to remove any chance of shine showing on it as I think materials like Phong make objects look metal.

Eyes: For my Raccoon's eyes, I took inspiration from Toy Story. This meant that it gave the character some detail while still remaining simple.

My texturing for the Raccoon character was very simple and I stick by my decision to do so because it worked out in the end. I thought about having fur but went against it because I needed to conserve time. The final results of my texturing were very good and pleasant, The raccoon is nice to look at in the animation.

c) Rendering

When rendered, the eyes of my character look very nice and stick out. The detail of my character is accentuated by the texture on the tail.

The style and appearance of my character fit the element of the video I decided to create and it all works together very well.

The characters eyes stick out and make the model look a lot more like the childish character it was designed to be.
